Woman Spinning, Gonokbari, Bangladesh.
This lady lives at the woman’s community hostel, which is part of the Centre for the Rehabilitation for the Paralysed in Bangladesh. Following a disability, many women are abandoned by their husbands, families and communities. The centre helps women train in vocational skills to help them earn and become fuller members of society. She is using a “low rider” wheelchair, popular among women who have to continue with daily tasks, which all happen at floor level.
