From spending time in Bangladesh I was fascinated by the numerous piles of bricks being broken by hand to create hardcore for building. Only after spending a whole wet and dry season in the country did I realise what actually went into making bricks and hardcore for building. These eight images tell the story.
Men dig out mud from clay deposited by the annual floods during the wet season. Dug from solid walls into sods to be then mouded into bricks, the whole process from mud to hardcore is carried out by hand.
